Hi! I'm Marilyn Lockman, affectionately known as Ms. Marilyn. I'm a Maryland licensed family child care provider and the Founder and President of Handprints Community Partners. We are pleased that you are considering us to provide care for your little one(s). We provide quality childcare in a loving home environment. At Handprints, children learn through what they naturally do best – playing!

Our goal is to provide your little one(s) with a clean, safe, comfortable, and nurturing learning environment where they learn through play. The childcare environment and activities are planned for both the group and individual child based on their unique needs, abilities, learning styles, and interests. Activities and experiences are designed to foster growth for the whole child (physical, social-emotional, approaches toward learning, cognitive development, and language & literacy), engage the family unit and ultimately strengthen the child’s microsystem (family and community).

At Handprints, children are free to play and learn, while developing the rudiments necessary to successfully transition into primary school programs.

Meet Ms. Marilyn!

Hi there! Choosing a childcare provider is very important business. As such, I wanted to take a few moments to tell you a little bit about myself.

I’m a Maryland registered family child care provider. That means that I’ve been licensed by the Maryland State Department of Education to provide care for little ones in my home. I’m originally from Washington, DC and spent most of my life living and working in the DMV. That’s the DC Metropolitan Region for those who don’t know 😉 My family moved to the Greektown neighborhood of Baltimore City in 2020 and have been in love with Baltimore ever since!

Like every proper child care professional, I LOVE “the littles”. I love their laughs, I love their smiles, I love the way they are carefree, honest and absolutely genuine tiny humans. After growing a professional career in grants and program administration, I leapt into the world of early childhood education and opened a family child care home in February of 2023.

Here are just a few of the qualifications that help me provide quality care for your little ones.

Maryland State Child Development Credential – Level 3
Maryland State Department of Education EXCELS – Quality Rating Level 2
America Red Cross Certificate in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED
State approved training in the following subject matters (Emergency and Disaster Planning, Medication Administration, Americans with Disabilities Act, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Supporting Breastfeeding Practices, Curriculum, Community, Child Development, Professionalism, Special Needs, Health, Safety and Nutrition)
Bachelor of Science in Business Management w/ a concentration in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management
